Building My Master's Capstone in Public

Capstone Overview

I'm developing a six-week Gateway Program Seminar (GPS) course for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) on autonomous learning through creative thinking.

Over the next two years, I will produce a complete course package including:
  • Syllabus (learning outcomes, week-by-week plan, suggested reading/viewing, rubric)
  • Lecture videos/slides
  • Quizzes/tests
  • In-class exercises
  • Assignments

Current Question

Scope: Can the course be narrowed down to focus specifically on autonomous learning through notemaking? Can students develop sufficient notemaking skills and experience meaningful benefits within a six-week timeframe to motivate continued practice?

Semester 1 (Theory)

  • The first semester focuses on theory.
  • My primary goal for this first semester is to build the theoretical foundation for the course and write the justification for its necessity.
